It’s like asking the All Blacks not to enter the World Cup.
In 1958, the Black Budget taxed the best beers in the world out of our reach – so we decided to brew our own.
To prove it was one of the finest in the world we entered the World Cup of beers, the ‘Les Amis du Vin’ and won.
To make sure it wasn’t a fluke we entered again the next year and won, we did that for four years straight.
Then, on the eve of the fifth, legend has it, the organisers wrote to ask us not to enter. Proof that when it comes to the finest beers in the world, they considered Steinlager Classic unbeatable.
